A Seattle native, Alex has lived in Los Angeles for 16 years and, in fact, just returned to the states from a season abroad in London! No matter where she is, however, Alex continues to manifest her visions into creative & educational realities. Alex has also choreographed live industrial shows for companies such as Nike, Nike NFL, Audi & Genentech; A Flashmob for Thunderhead.com, and two full-length theatrical productions for Tarbell Realtors. Alex contributed choreography to the opening production number for America’s Got Talent (Ray Leeper; NBC), she coached Karina Smirnoff & Apollo Ohno for Dancing With The Stars (ABC), and she recently choreographed a 50’s themed-piece for the 5-time world figure skating group champions, Los Angeles Ice Theater. Her piece was competed at the World Event (held in France) in May 2015.

Alex is the Founder/Director of Escape Artists, a theatrical contemporary dance company who first premiered “Anonymous” at the end of 2013, which marked their first immersive & full-length theatrical production, featuring lead actor Gene Gabriel, and 16 professional LA-based dancers. In addition to various company work elsewhere, Alex’s visions & choreography continue to make a mark as Escape Artists have been invited to perform around town since it’s conception in 2011. Following “Anonymous” Break the Floor Productions invited Alex and her Escape Artists to present a 20-minute concert at the first annual DancerPalooza (2014), where Alex produced a mini showing of her “Decades: the 60’s” show: a theatrical contemporary and jazz show celebrating the greatest music of the 1960’s. Alex was a 2012 Capezio A.C.E. Awards Finalist & a 2011 World Dance Awards Nominee for her first multi-media piece, “Remembering Back”: an autobiographical short film which plays simultaneously with the dancers’ performance. Stacey Tookey, Kathryn McCormink and Alex joined forces with the band Vienne, creating a dance inspired music video with the sole purpose of bringing awareness to human trafficking. Additionally, her company’s piece about “Codependency” was recently invited to perform at Hope for Hollywood, a benefit to raise money and awareness for addiction recovery. Projects that bring attention and awareness to societal issues like these hold an important piece in Alex’s mission as an artist.

Alex has been a faculty member for multiple conventions, including: Velocity Dance Convention (3 seasons: 2012- summer 2015), Dance Makers Inc (1 season: 2011-2012) & Dance Excellence ( for the past 12 seasons)! The convention teaching setting is so dear to her heart, and one of her favorite ways to share, connect, educate & motivate youth from all over the world. She has taught at Edge Performing Arts Center since 2011, and she has also held open Escape Artists Company Classes for the Los Angeles community. For years, Alex has guest taught for AMDA’s prestigious Dance Department in Hollywood, CA: participating in their audition class series, and she also led a 10-week “Find Your Voice” Contemporary Improv series. She soon joined their faculty as a teacher and choreographer for two semesters, just last season! Alex previously spent two years at The Young Americans College of the Performing Arts, and she’s been a guest teacher at Loyola Marymount & Pepperdine University. Alex also did a residency at Cornish College of the Arts (Seattle) when they commissioned a piece of her’s for their annual Spring Concert. Needless to say, she loves the collegiate setting. Alex also co-founded The Feedback Experience, a dance class taught to 100% live music. Creating, improving and teaching with live musicians is one of her most favorite classes to teach and share!
